Services

Comprehensive skin cancer check
Dr Kate performs comprehensive skin cancer checks and has advanced training in dermatoscopy - which is a special skill for recognising skin cancers in their early stages.
Your skin will be checked from head to toe, looking for any suspicious skin lesions.
For this consultation it is suggested that all clothing, except for underwear, to be removed. Genital areas will not routinely be checked unless you raise a concern.
We also request that patients remove all their makeup prior to their appointment.
If necessary, a skin lesion biopsy may be performed during your consultation or you may be re-booked for biopsy or excision.
Dr Kate will advise how frequently you require your skin to be checked as this depends on your individual risk. Regular checks are advised to facilitate early detection of skin cancers.

Single lesion review
These are urgent appointments kept aside for patients with symptomatic or worrying lesions to facilitate prompt action on health threatening lesions. These are short appointments for 1-2 lesions and include potential biopsy or planning of biopsy.
You should consider a lesion review between regular skin checks if you have a lesion that is:
- Symptomatic: Itchy, tender, bleeding
- Changing or growing in size/colour or shape
- New: especially if age is greater than 40yrs

Skin cancer biopsy
Often a biopsy is required to confirm a diagnosis so the best treatment can be used for that type of lesion.
This may be a partial sample of the lesion or the whole lesion depending on the suspected diagnosis. If can often be done on the day of review however may be rescheduled depending on the size, location and number of lesions needing biopsy.
